Vertical Garden: A New Trend of Gardening
As we all know, that nowadays, the houses which have a garden are getting fewer. Along with the time, the growth of the human population is getting bigger in the same size of area, especially in a big city. The houses do not grow horizontally, but vertically. It’s all because of the lesser area. Actually, the presence of the garden outside the house is a little bit important, in order to improve the aesthetic and to get a better air quality. As we know, some oxygen that we take is derived from the photosynthesis product of the plants.

One of the strategies of some houses to have a garden is by building a vertical garden that is trending nowadays. Before you build a vertical garden, it’s better if you know the characteristics of the plant, the condition of where the vertical garden will be built (including the sun exposure, the humidity, etc), and many more. You also have to know whether you you will add a artificial lighting or you just rely it on the natural sun exposure.

Green wall Litophytes
After you finish considering those aspects, then you have to decide the plant species that you want to put on the garden. You can choose the species that is included in the group of lithophytes and epiphytes, because the vertical garden is not planted on the soil. For the interior vertical garden, it’s better if you choose the plant that originated from the area with temperature approximately 20°C, such as Philodendron, Columnea, or Begonia. If you want to build an outdoor vertical garden, it’s better if you choose sun exposed plants, such as Lavandula, Davallia, or Fuchsia.
